Covid 19 Update: 29.05.2020

Our Car Park has now been open for just over two weeks since The Governments decision to relax the lockdown guidelines and allow day travel anywhere within the UK. Whilst this wasn’t a situation that we welcomed as we would have preferred a restricted amount of travel distance,   we immediately put our plans into place to allow people to use our car park and access the vast open spaces of the beach and the wider environ and abide by the rules with regard to social distancing and safety, not only for our visitors but also for our staff too –  who have all responded positively to returning to work. The new safety protocols we put in place to limit contact as much as possible have been very successful and very much welcomed and commented upon which is very pleasing – a very positive situation –  but we continue to reappraise and, where necessary,  will amend our procedures if required. We have to say, almost without exception, that everyone visiting so far has been brilliant and very considerate to others – for that we thank you.

The car park will continue to be contactless payment only and on days where we expect a little more footfall,  as it were, Marshalls will be present  to guide and assist people and ensure as far as possible social distancing is adhered to –  BUT we continue to need YOU, as the customer, to take personal responsibility too for social distancing in the car park, along the access paths, on the beach, at the take-away and in the toilets. The car park will be locked at 19.30 hrs to ensure that there is no overnight parking……… as per the rules – day trippers only please.

The toilets will continue to be open. We ask you to adhere to social distancing when using these facilities and although we have fully stocked hand wash, you may wish to consider bringing your own gloves and sanitiser. We have taken on more staff in this area and are endeavouring to keep them even cleaner than usual !

The Beach shop will continue to operate as take-away only, yet with a very comprehensive menu with all your firm favourites still available all day long including your Devonshire Cream Tea – cream first obviously!! – but we will restrict numbers allowed inside to order at any one time to ensure social distancing is followed…….. You must ensure that you keep a 2m distance at all times.

All other aspects of our business remain closed for the time-being and we will update as and when Government advice changes.

A final thought …….. Business is most definitely NOT back to normal and facilities in the area are still extremely limited. We are delighted to be able to open the beach to help people access fresh air, open space and undertake their exercise.

However, when you visit  Putsborough Beach , keep your visit short to ease the pressure, ensure social distancing adherence at all times, be patient with our staff and above all stay safe, stay alert, control the virus and save lives.

Thank you
